As of July 3rd, 57.6% of COVID-19 cases were caused by the Delta variant

It was less than 1% of all new COVID-19 cases in mid-April, but the Delta variant  is the dominant virus strain as of July 3.  An estimated 58% of new cases came from the more transmissible strain of the virus during the two weeks ending July 3.

The Alpha variant, previously the most prevalent strain since March, made up 25% of cases at the end of June.
